It depends on the job, so every plumbing service lists its own starting prices. At SG QuickFix a shower hose or shower head starts from $50, tap and leak diagnosis from $60, choke clearing from $80, and replacing an instant water heater from $130 in labour. Bigger jobs cost more: toilet bowl replacement labour starts from $180 and a concealed leak investigation from $180. Your exact price is agreed before work starts.

Inside the flat it is usually the owner. HDB's pipe guide says owners maintain the sanitary branch pipes that serve their flat, while the town council looks after the main sanitary pipes. Taps, toilets, basins, showers and heaters are the owner's fittings. A ceiling leak from the flat above is shared: HDB says the upper and lower owners share the slab and split the repair cost, while leaks from the roof or external walls are for the town council.

Stop the water first. Close the angle valve under the sink or toilet if there is one; otherwise turn off the main valve next to your water meter. If the leak is near a water heater or a power socket, switch the heater off at its isolator and keep water away from sockets. Put a bucket or towel down, take a photo or short video of where the water comes from, and send it to us on WhatsApp so we can price the job.

Most prices are for labour. A card marked "+ tap", "+ hose", "+ part" or "+ valve" means the part is charged on top, and the part price is agreed with you before fitting. Two cards include the fitting itself: supplying and installing a basic toilet bowl from $300, and a basic basin from $250. Tell us if you have already bought the tap, mixer or heater you want fitted.

A clear photo or short video of the problem, plus a wider shot showing where it is: under the sink, behind the toilet, in the shower or at the heater. For a replacement, send the brand or a photo of the new fitting. Mention your area and whether the home is an HDB flat, condo or landed house. With that we can usually give a price on WhatsApp before the visit.

Some problems only show once a panel is open or a fitting is removed, such as a corroded pipe behind a cistern or a blockage further down the line. When that happens, the plumber stops, explains what was found and gives you a price for the extra work. Nothing extra is done until you agree, and you can choose to stop at the original job.
