About toilet repair
Toilet repair in Singapore starts from $60 at SG QuickFix for inspection, minor adjustment and flush button repair. Fixing a toilet that keeps running starts from $70, and replacing a fill valve from $80 or a flush valve from $90, each plus the part. Toilet bowl replacement labour starts from $180. Most cistern repairs take 30 to 60 minutes.
Why does my toilet keep running?
A toilet that keeps running or refilling is the most common toilet repair. Usually the flush valve seal at the bottom of the cistern is worn or has grit on it, so water trickles into the bowl, or the fill valve doesn't shut off when the cistern is full. For an overflowing cistern, HDB's toilet guide points to a ball valve that isn't fully open, or an outlet valve seal that is defective or has fine particles stuck on it.
Do you need a licensed plumber for toilet repairs?
It depends on the job. PUB lists replacing any flushing mechanism in a cistern, and any flexible hose after the ball valve, as simple plumbing work that a handyman without a licence may do. Installing, changing or relocating a toilet bowl is sanitary plumbing work that PUB requires a licensed plumber to carry out. You can check any plumber's licence with PUB's licensed plumber search.

Toilets in HDB flats, condos and landed homes
- HDB flats: most toilets have a dual-flush cistern with a push button. Some flushing systems are exclusive to one brand; for those, HDB advises engaging a plumber, and the brand's own parts may be needed.
- Condos: concealed cisterns behind a wall panel are common. Repairs are made through the flush plate opening, so parts must match the cistern's brand.
- Landed homes: several bathrooms and older fittings mean some parts are discontinued; a universal fill or flush valve often replaces them.
Common problems
Toilet keeps running or refills on its own: a worn flush valve seal, or a fill valve that doesn't shut off. Weak flush, or you need to flush twice: the water level in the cistern is too low, the rim is partly blocked, or the flush valve is worn. Flush button stuck, loose or not working: a broken button, or a broken rod or cable linking it to the flush valve. Cistern takes a long time to refill: a partly closed ball valve or a clogged fill valve. Water on the floor around the toilet: a leaking hose, a cracked cistern, or a failed seal at the base of the bowl. Bidet spray drips or leaks: a worn spray head, hose or valve. Loose or broken toilet seat: worn hinges or fixing bolts. Toilet is blocked: see Choke Clearing.
What the work covers
We check the water supply, cistern level, fill valve, flush valve and button, and test for silent leaks into the bowl. Worn parts are repaired or replaced with matching or universal parts, the water level is set for a full flush, and the toilet is flushed several times to confirm it fills and stops correctly. Every connection is checked for leaks before we leave.

FAQs
At SG QuickFix, toilet repair starts from $60 for inspection and adjustment. Fixing a running toilet starts from $70, and a fill valve from $80 or a flush valve from $90, each plus the part. Toilet bowl replacement labour starts from $180, or from $300 with a basic bowl supplied.
Usually the flush valve seal is worn or has grit on it, so water trickles into the bowl and the cistern keeps refilling. A fill valve that doesn't shut off is the other common cause. Both are cistern parts that can be replaced in under an hour.
Yes. PUB classes installing, changing or relocating a toilet bowl as sanitary plumbing work that must be carried out by a licensed plumber. Replacing the flushing mechanism inside the cistern is simple work that doesn't need a licence.
Put a few drops of food colouring in the cistern and wait 15 minutes without flushing. If the colour shows in the bowl, the flush valve is leaking. A hissing sound or a cistern that refills by itself are other signs.
Most cistern repairs, such as replacing a fill valve, flush valve or button, take 30 to 60 minutes. Replacing a toilet seat takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Replacing a toilet bowl takes two to three hours.
Water at the base usually comes from the inlet hose, a cracked cistern or bowl, or a failed seal where the bowl meets the waste pipe. A leak diagnosis, from $80, finds the source before any part is replaced.
Yes, in most cases. Concealed cisterns are reached through the flush plate opening in the wall panel. The parts are specific to each brand, so send a photo of the flush plate on WhatsApp, or tell us the brand if you know it.
