About water leak repair
Water leak repair in Singapore starts from $60 at SG QuickFix for visible leak diagnosis, and from $60 plus the part for flexible hose leaks. Under-sink leaks start from $70 and bottle trap leaks from $70 plus parts, exposed pipe joint and toilet plumbing leaks from $80, and exposed PVC and copper pipe repairs from $90 and $100. Concealed leak investigation starts from $180.
Most visible leaks are repaired in 30 to 90 minutes. Concealed leaks take longer, because the source has to be found before the repair can be quoted.
How can you check for a hidden leak?
- Turn off every tap and every appliance that uses water, including the washing machine and water heater.
- Look at your PUB water meter and watch the dial for 10 to 15 minutes.
- If the meter moves while nothing is running, water is escaping somewhere, often through a toilet cistern or a concealed pipe.
- Put a few drops of food colouring in each toilet cistern; colour in the bowl without flushing means that cistern is leaking.
Who fixes which leak in an HDB flat?
| Leak | Who is responsible |
|---|---|
| Pipes, taps and fittings inside your flat | The flat owner |
| Ceiling leak from the flat above, through the floor slab | Both owners, who arrange the repair together and split the cost |
| Roof leak into a top-floor flat | The town council |
| Main sanitary pipes and other common property | The town council |
Sources: HDB's guide to pipes and HDB's ceiling leak guide. HDB also advises shutting the stopcock at your PUB water sub-meter if there is a leak, and engaging a licensed plumber for repairs where necessary.
Which leak repairs need a PUB-licensed plumber?
PUB requires regulated water service work, meaning the laying, installation, alteration, repair or replacement of water pipes and fittings in the drinking water supply, to be done by a licensed plumber. PUB lists some jobs as simple works a handyman may do, including replacing flexible hoses connected to taps and replacing the pipe between a stop valve and an instantaneous water heater. You can check a plumber's licence with PUB's licensed plumber search.
What about ceiling leaks?
A ceiling leak from the flat above usually comes from worn waterproofing in the floor slab, not from a pipe, and needs waterproofing or re-screeding work. That is not part of this service. A leaking exposed pipe that belongs to your own flat is. In HDB blocks, pipes under your bathroom ceiling may belong to the flat above, so check where the pipe comes from first.
Common problems
Water under the kitchen sink: a loose or cracked flexible hose, a leaking bottle trap, or a worn angle valve. Drip from a pipe joint: a fitting that has worked loose, or a seal that has aged. Damp patch or stain on a wall: a concealed pipe leak, or water getting behind tiles. High water bill with no visible leak: often a running toilet cistern or a concealed pipe. Water around the toilet: a leaking inlet hose, cistern or seal at the base of the bowl. Water dripping from the bathroom ceiling: either your own exposed pipe or a leak from the flat above. Green or crusted pipe joints: older copper or galvanised pipes beginning to fail.
What the work covers
We trace where the water is coming from before repairing anything, using the water meter, dry-tissue checks and dye tests. Loose fittings are resealed, worn hoses, traps and seals are replaced, and damaged sections of exposed pipe are repaired. After the repair, the water is turned back on and the joint is checked under pressure for leaks.

Pricing & conditions
Visible leak diagnosis starts from $60. Repair prices depend on where the leak is, the pipe material and the parts needed: exposed PVC pipe repairs start from $90 and exposed copper pipe repairs from $100. Parts such as hoses and bottle traps are charged on top where a card shows "+ part" or "+ parts". Concealed leak investigation starts from $180, and the repair is quoted once the leak is found. The price is confirmed before work starts.
Not included: waterproofing or re-screeding, ceiling leaks through the floor slab between flats, re-tiling, and whole-home re-piping.

At SG QuickFix, visible leak diagnosis starts from $60, and flexible hose leak repair from $60 plus the part. Under-sink leaks start from $70 and bottle trap leaks from $70 plus parts, exposed pipe joint and toilet plumbing leaks from $80, and exposed PVC and copper pipe repairs from $90 and $100. Turn off every tap and appliance, then watch your PUB water meter for 10 to 15 minutes. If it moves, water is escaping somewhere. Check toilet cisterns with food colouring first, because they are the most common silent leak.
HDB says that when water leaks through the floor slab from the flat above, the two owners arrange the repair together and split the cost. For top-floor flats, a leak from the roof is the town council's responsibility.
Repairing or replacing water supply pipes is regulated water service work that PUB requires a licensed plumber to do. Replacing a flexible hose connected to a tap is listed by PUB as simple work that doesn't need a licence.
Shut off the water at the nearest valve, or at the stopcock by your PUB water meter, as HDB advises. Switch off electrical appliances near the water, mop up, and send photos of the leak on WhatsApp so we can see what is needed.
Most visible leaks, such as hoses, bottle traps and pipe joints, are fixed in 30 to 90 minutes. Finding a concealed leak takes longer, and the repair is scheduled once the source is confirmed.
Often the source can be narrowed down first with meter readings, isolating each pipe run and moisture checks, which keeps any opening of tiles as small as possible. Concealed leak investigation starts from $180.
