What the team does

The technician switches off the heater at its double pole switch and isolates the water. The old heater is disconnected and taken down. The new heater is mounted level, its inlet and outlet are connected to the existing pipes, and the electrical connection is made to the existing supply point. The heater is filled before power is switched on, so the element isn't damaged, and then tested at the shower for temperature and flow.

Limits & price factors

The heater is not included unless agreed. New electrical points or wiring, which the Consumer Product Safety Office advises having a licensed electrical worker do, and new supply pipes are not included.

The labour price starts from $130. A new heater with different mounting points, corroded pipe connections and replacing the pipe between the stop valve and heater take longer.
