How much does a handyman cost in Singapore in 2026?

At SG QuickFix, handyman jobs in Singapore are priced per item, starting from $40 for a small side table or stool. A TV up to 43 inches is mounted from $70, a sagging door is realigned from $60, and a large IKEA PAX wardrobe is assembled from $150.

The table below gives the starting price of each of the nine handyman services. Every section after it shows the full, live price list for one service, so you can find your exact job rather than guess from a range. Where a price is marked "+ parts" (or "+ lock", "+ hinge" and so on), the part is added to the labour price. You can also browse all handyman services by job.

How much does TV mounting cost?

TV mounting is priced by screen size, from the smallest band up to TVs above 75 inches, with fixed add-ons for extra work. Fitting a bracket you already own costs nothing extra; a bracket supplied for you is priced by type.

Wall type matters as much as screen size. Concrete walls take a standard bracket. Tiled or marble walls are an add-on (+$40–$60) because the surface needs slower, careful drilling. In BTO flats, many internal walls are partition walls: HDB describes them as severe-duty drywall that can hold common fixtures with the right anchors, and asks owners to avoid areas with concealed wiring (MyNiceHome: features of your new flat). A standard mount on a bracket you supply usually takes about an hour. Very large TVs are often better on a concrete wall.

For a closer look, see the guides on TV bracket installation cost, and on mounting a TV on an HDB partition wall.

How much does furniture and IKEA assembly cost?

Furniture assembly is priced by the piece, from a small side table or stool up to a large IKEA PAX wardrobe. Dismantling, and dismantling plus reassembly for a move, are priced separately.

The price rises with the number of parts and the height of the finished piece. A standard wardrobe costs from $90, while a large IKEA or PAX wardrobe costs from $150, because a PAX frame usually takes several hours and tall wardrobes should be anchored to the wall. Unusual or custom furniture gets a price from photos.

IKEA Singapore's own assembly service, available with truck deliveries, charges 10% of the original retail price for most furniture, adds a $35 call-out fee for a separate trip, and does not assemble onto false ceilings or partition walls (IKEA Singapore: assembly service). Which is cheaper depends on the item: a per-item price favours expensive furniture, while a percentage favours cheap pieces.

Read more on the IKEA assembly fee in Singapore, on assembling an IKEA PAX wardrobe in an HDB flat, and on Taobao furniture assembly, where instructions are often in Chinese only.

How much does door and lock repair cost?

A door adjustment costs from $60, and a basic lock change costs from $70 plus the lock.

Door repair

Most door repairs, such as realigning a sagging door or fixing a latch, sit at the starting price. Replacing hinges, closers and frames costs more, and a full door replacement is quoted after a look.

Doors in Singapore flats often sag or scrape because hinges work loose or wooden doors swell in humid weather, and these are usually adjustment jobs. A replacement hinge costs from $70, and a new door closer costs from $80; in both cases the part is added.

The closer on an HDB main door is not optional. HDB calls it a self-closing safety device on fire-rated entrance doors that must not be removed (HDB: gate and door). A slamming or slow door is fixed by adjusting the closer, not by taking it off.

Related guides cover a door scraping the floor, adjusting an HDB door closer, and whether to repair or replace an HDB bedroom door.

Lock and digital lock replacement

Bedroom, bathroom and cylinder locks share the basic starting price, and fitting a digital lock on an existing door costs from $120.

Mortise locks cost more than cylinder locks because the lock body sits inside the door. A digital lock that needs the door modified, for example extra cutting or drilling to fit a different lock body, costs from $160. Complex lock or door changes are quoted after photos.

HDB main doors along a fire escape route, such as those facing a staircase or lift lobby, are fire-rated, and the rating label sits near the hinges. Since 1 Mar 2024, SCDF has required any digital lock installed on a fire-rated door to be certified for fire resistance, with a certificate that matches the lock's brand and model and a fire rating at least as high as the door's (SCDF: digital locksets on fire-rated doors). Check the certificate before you buy the lock.

For more detail, see the cost of changing a door lock, digital lock installation cost, digital locks on HDB fire-rated doors, what to do about a flat digital lock battery, and how to open a bathroom door locked from inside.

How much does curtain and blind installation cost?

Curtain installation starts from $50 for the first rod, and each extra rod or track in the same visit costs less than the first.

Tracks and ceiling-mounted tracks are priced separately from rods, and a ceiling-mounted track costs from $70 because it is fixed overhead, often at height. Blinds are priced per window. Motorised blinds are quoted separately, since they may need power near the window.

If you have several windows, list them all in one message: an additional rod costs from $30 and an additional track from $35. Guides on curtain installation prices in Singapore and on curtain track vs rod explain which suits an HDB window.

How much does it cost to hang shelves, mirrors and bathroom accessories?

Hanging a first picture costs from $45, and a first bathroom accessory costs from $50.

On shelves, mirrors and pictures, drilling through tile, marble or granite is an add-on (+$40–$60 per job), because the surface needs slower drilling with the right bits to avoid cracking. Each extra drill hole in the same visit costs from $5–$10. For a full set of bathroom racks and holders, the three- and five-item bundles are the simplest way to price the job.

On partition walls, heavy mirrors and shelves need the right anchors. Some HDB flats have Ferrolite partition walls, usually between bedrooms, and HDB has separate Ferrolite rules for them. HDB rates a steel cavity anchor at 20 kg per bolt and an M10 anchor rod with mesh sleeve and injection mortar at 50 kg per bolt. Bolts must be no longer than 50 mm, drilling about 22 mm deep, and nothing drilled within 200mm below a ceiling or beam (HDB: important information on renovations). Heavier loads need extra support.

Singapore Citizen households, and registered tenants of HDB rental flats, with a member aged 65 or above, or aged 60 to 64 needing help with at least 1 daily activity, may qualify for grab bars under HDB's Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE) programme, where the owner's share for the first set ranges from $26.15 to $65.40 by flat type (HDB: EASE). Grab bars outside EASE are priced in the table above.

Related guides cover which HDB walls you can drill, hanging heavy mirrors and shelves on HDB walls, drilling tiles without cracking them, and HDB EASE grab bars.

How much do cabinet repairs and wall patching cost?

Adjusting a cabinet hinge costs from $50 and a drawer from $50, and filling small drill or nail holes costs from $60.

Cabinet and drawer repair

Replacing a hinge or drawer runner costs more than adjusting one, plus the part.

Sagging kitchen doors are usually fixed by adjusting concealed hinges, which is cheaper than replacement. When several hinges need replacing, additional hinges in the same visit cost from $20 each. Guides on adjusting concealed cabinet hinges and on a drawer not closing properly explain what you can try first.

Wall repair and patching

Small holes sit at the starting price; bigger patches, cracks and touch-up painting cost more.

Patching is often the last job before moving out or handing a flat back to a landlord. A patch with touch-up painting costs from $120; on older or faded walls the new paint may not match exactly. Large plaster damage is priced from photos or a site visit.

See the guides on filling holes after removing a TV bracket, and on hairline cracks in HDB walls, which covers when a crack needs more than a patch.

Are handyman prices in Singapore per hour or per job?

Both exist: many Singapore handymen bill by the hour, often with a minimum or transport charge, while SG QuickFix prices each job separately.

Hourly billing suits a vague list of small tasks that are hard to price in advance. A per-job price suits defined work: you can see the starting price of each job before you book, instead of estimating hours. It also makes comparing handymen easier: you compare the price of the job, not an hourly rate plus a guess at how long it will take.

The cheapest-looking hourly rate is not always the cheapest visit. A low rate with a minimum charge, a transport fee and marked-up parts can cost more than a per-job price. Compare the total for your actual list of jobs.

What should you ask before booking any handyman?

  • Is the price per job or per hour, and is there a minimum charge?
  • Is there a transport or call-out charge on top?
  • Are parts included, or added at cost?
  • Does a tiled, marble or partition wall change the price?
  • What happens if the job can't be done safely on that wall?

What makes a handyman job cost more?

  • Parts: locks, hinges, closers, runners, handles and supplied brackets are added to labour.
  • Hard surfaces: tile, marble and granite carry a surcharge.
  • Size and weight: bigger TVs, heavy mirrors and tall wardrobes sit in higher price bands.
  • Extra work: removing an old TV, dismantling furniture or modifying a door for a lock.
  • Quote-only jobs: full door replacement, motorised blinds, custom furniture and large plaster damage.

How can you keep the bill down?

Group jobs into one visit. Second and later items of the same kind cost less: extra pictures, rods, tracks, hinges, drill holes and bathroom accessories all have same-visit prices. A new flat is the classic case, and the BTO key collection handyman checklist lists the usual first jobs.

What photos help get an accurate price?

  • The whole wall and a close-up of its surface (paint, tile or marble).
  • The item's model label: TV size, bracket, lock model or IKEA product name.
  • For TVs: the back of the TV showing the bracket holes, and its weight.
  • Whether the wall sounds hollow when knocked (partition) or solid (concrete).
  • For doors: the edge where it rubs, and the hinges.
  • For curtains: the window width and the ceiling above it.
  • Anything that has to be removed first.

What's included in a handyman job price, and what isn't?

An SG QuickFix job price covers the labour and what each service lists as included; parts marked "+ parts" and quote-only work are extra.

What the price includes depends on the service:

  • Furniture assembly: tools and fixings, plus removing the packaging and cleaning up afterwards.
  • TV mounting: a level, load-tested fixing on concrete, brick or partition walls. Fitting your own bracket is included.
  • Shelves, mirrors and pictures: anchors rated for the wall type, and level alignment.
  • Curtains and blinds: precise levelling and clean-up after installation.
  • Door repair: a check that the door opens and closes smoothly after the fix.
  • Lock replacement: a security check once the new lock is fitted.

Everything else is listed as an add-on or a quote in each table above.

Buying your own parts is fine. If you choose a lock, handle or curtain track yourself, check its size against the old one, or send its product page with your photos, so the fitting matches on the day. A digital lock for a fire-rated main door also needs its fire certificate.

Which jobs should a handyman not do in an HDB flat?

A handyman should not do regulated plumbing, electrical wiring, wall hacking, or remove the main door's closer, because Singapore rules reserve or forbid these.

Wiring, new power points and RCCB or DB box work must be done by a licensed electrical worker; the electrician price list for Singapore covers those jobs. PUB lets handymen do simple plumbing such as replacing taps, shower heads, the cistern's flushing mechanism and the flexible hose after the ball valve, but other plumbing needs a PUB Licensed Plumber, and it is an offence to hire an unlicensed plumber for regulated work. The guide to which plumbing jobs need a PUB-licensed plumber has the full list.

Drilling hours matter too. HDB allows heavy and excessive drilling only from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, and not on the eves of major public holidays, so plan multi-hole jobs for a weekday; the HDB drilling time guide explains the exceptions. Tenants should also check the minor repair clause in their lease before booking.
