About wall repair / patching

Wall repair in Singapore starts from $60 at SG QuickFix for small drill or nail holes. A small wall patch starts from $80, minor crack filling from $80, a medium hole repair from $120, and a patch with touch-up painting from $120. Larger plaster damage is quoted from photos or a site visit.

Most of the time on a wall repair goes into letting the filler dry before it is sanded and painted. Small holes take under an hour; patches with touch-up painting take two to three hours.

Who is responsible for wall cracks in an HDB flat?

HDB says flat owners maintain the fittings and finishes inside their flat, including wall finishes, and recommends sealing hairline cracks by painting over them with flexible sealant or elastomeric paint. The town council maintains common areas and external walls, so cracks on the building's outside face should be reported to your town council.

Cracks with water stains, damp patches on the ceiling, or cracks that keep widening are not just cosmetic and should be checked before patching. A leak from the flat above follows HDB's ceiling leak process, in which neighbours arrange the repair together.

Wall repair in HDB flats, condos and landed homes

  • HDB flats: concrete walls and BTO drywall partitions need different fillers. Holes in drywall larger than a screw hole need a backing patch so the filler doesn't fall through.
  • Condos: check whether your management or landlord specifies a paint colour or brand for touch-ups, especially before handing back a rental.
  • Landed homes: older plaster can be hollow behind the surface. Tapping around the damage shows how far it spreads before patching starts.

Common problems

Holes left after removing a TV bracket, shelf or curtain rod: filled, sanded and, if booked, touch-up painted. Hairline cracks in plaster or paint: often shrinkage or slight movement. Flexible filler makes them less likely to reopen. Dents and gouges from furniture or moving: filled and smoothed. Door handle holes in walls: a common medium-hole repair; a door stopper stops it happening again. Peeling or bubbling paint around a patch: usually moisture in the wall. The cause should be found before repainting. Touch-up paint that doesn't match: older paint fades and its sheen changes. Painting the whole panel to the nearest corner hides a patch better. Large areas of damaged plaster from leaks or impact: quoted after inspection, because loose plaster must be removed first.

What the work covers

We remove loose material, fill the hole or crack with a filler suited to the wall, and use a backing patch for larger holes in drywall. Once dry, the surface is sanded smooth. If touch-up painting is booked, the patch is primed and painted to blend in with the wall. Furniture nearby is covered during sanding, and dust is cleared afterwards.

Pricing & conditions

Prices start from $60 for small drill or nail holes and depend on the size and number of holes, the wall type and whether touch-up painting is needed. Touch-up painting blends best with your existing paint; keep the original tin or its colour code ready if you have it, since matching older paint by eye may not be exact. Large plaster damage is quoted from photos or a site visit. The price is confirmed before work starts.

Not included: repainting whole rooms, waterproofing, ceiling leak repairs, and structural cracks, which need specialist or HDB assessment.
