About curtain & blind installation

Curtain and blind installation in Singapore starts from $50 at SG QuickFix for the first curtain rod. The first curtain track starts from $60, a ceiling-mounted track from $70, roller blinds from $60 per window and venetian blinds from $70 per window. Additional rods and tracks in the same visit cost less.

A single rod or track takes about 20 to 45 minutes, and a home with three or four windows usually takes one to two hours.

Curtains and blinds in HDB flats, condos and landed homes

  • HDB flats: concrete ceilings and walls hold rods and tracks well. HDB limits wall fasteners to 6 mm in diameter and 40 mm deep, household shelter walls allow only shallow fixings, and heavy or excessive drilling is restricted to weekdays between 9am and 5pm.
  • Condos: many units have false ceilings or curtain pelmets. A track in a false ceiling must be fixed to a timber batten or the concrete slab above, not to the ceiling board alone.
  • Landed homes: tall windows and double-height spaces may need special access, and motorised curtains and blinds are quoted separately.

Measuring before you buy curtains

Measure the track or rod length first, extending 10 to 20 cm past each side of the window frame so open curtains don't block light. Then measure the drop from the track or rod to where the curtain should end: just above the floor, on the windowsill, or just below it. Order curtains to these measurements, not the window's.

Common problems

Curtain track sags in the middle: too few brackets for the curtain's weight. Adding or refixing brackets fixes the sag. Curtains catch or don't close fully: worn or missing gliders, or a track that isn't level. Rod brackets pull out of the wall: the wall plugs don't suit the wall type. Refixing with the right anchors solves it. Blind won't roll up or down: a worn chain, spring or bracket. Some blinds only need the brackets realigned. Light leaks around blackout curtains: the rod or track is too short or too close to the window. Extending past the frame helps. Curtains bought online don't fit: measure the track length and the drop before ordering.

What the work covers

We measure and mark each position with you, check the wall or ceiling type, and fix the brackets with anchors suited to it. Rods and tracks are levelled and spaced so curtains hang straight and close evenly. Blinds are fitted inside or outside the window recess as you prefer, and every curtain and blind is tested before we leave. Drilling dust is cleared afterwards.
