Door Repair
Door Closer Replacement in Singapore
Door closer replacement starts from $80 in labour at SG QuickFix, with the new closer charged separately. A closer that leaks oil, has a snapped arm or no longer controls the door is removed, the new one is fitted and set, and the door is tested. Most replacements take 45 to 90 minutes.

Task guide
When this may be needed
- Oil is leaking from the closer body or has dripped onto the floor.
- The door swings freely or slams no matter how the valves are set.
- The closer arm or bracket has cracked or snapped.
- The closer is too weak for the door, which never closes fully.
- The old closer is rusted after years on an exposed corridor door.
What the team does
The technician measures the door and checks its weight and width, so the new closer has the right strength, and checks the existing hole positions. The old closer and brackets are removed. The new closer is mounted, re-using the existing holes where they fit, and the arm is connected. Closing and latching speeds are then set so the door shuts firmly without slamming, and the door is tested from several angles.
Included in this price
- Removal of the old closer and brackets
- Mounting the new closer and arm
- Setting the closing and latching speeds
- Testing from several opening angles
Limits & price factors
The closer itself is charged on top of the labour price. Concealed closers set into the door or frame, floor springs and filling and repainting old screw holes are quoted separately.
The labour price covers a standard surface-mounted closer on one door. Closers that need new holes in a metal frame, heavy doors needing a stronger closer, and gate closers take longer. The closer can be supplied, or you can provide your own; tell us the model when you book so we can check it suits the door.
FAQs
Oil on the closer body or on the floor beneath it, a door that slams no matter how the valves are turned, or a cracked arm all mean the closer has failed. A closer that only closes too fast or too slow can usually be adjusted instead.
Replacing the closer is a repair, not a door replacement. HDB says the closer on a fire-rated main door must not be removed, so a failed one should be replaced with a working closer.
Yes. A closer suited to the door's weight and width can be supplied at extra cost, or you can buy your own. Either way the labour price is the same.
Usually 45 to 90 minutes. Fitting a closer whose holes don't match the old ones takes longer than a like-for-like swap.
