Door Repair
Sagging Door Alignment in Singapore
A sagging door is realigned from $60 at SG QuickFix. The door is lifted back into square by adjusting or re-fixing its hinges, so it stops rubbing the frame and latches again. Most single doors take 30 to 45 minutes, and no new parts are needed unless a hinge is worn out.

Task guide
When this may be needed
- The gap along the top of the door is wider on the hinge side than on the handle side.
- The door rubs the frame near the top corner on the handle side.
- You have to lift or push the door to make it latch or lock.
- The door swings open or shut by itself because it no longer hangs plumb.
- A bedroom or bathroom door that closed easily last year now catches halfway.
What the team does
The technician checks how the door hangs: the gaps on all four sides, whether the frame is square and which hinge has moved. Loose hinge screws are tightened first. Where a screw spins without biting, it is re-fixed into solid timber with a longer screw or a filled hole, which is what lifts the door back up. Adjustable hinges are set to pull the door square. The latch is then checked against the strike plate and the door is opened and closed several times to confirm it swings freely and shuts without force.
Included in this price
- Inspection of the door, hinges and frame
- Tightening and re-fixing hinge screws, including longer screws where the old holes are worn
- Hinge adjustment to bring the door square
- A final open, close and latch test
Limits & price factors
A hinge that is bent or worn through is replaced under Replace standard hinge, from $70 plus parts. Planing a swollen door edge, repainting and frame rebuilding are not part of this price.
The starting price covers one standard internal or main door. Heavy solid-timber doors, doors with three or more hinges and frames that have pulled away from the wall take longer. If the frame itself is split, the repair moves to Minor door frame repair, from $80, and the price is confirmed before that work starts.
FAQs
Usually because the top hinge has worked loose. The screws in the frame lose grip over time, especially on a heavy door that is opened many times a day, and the door drops towards the handle side. Swelling in humid weather makes a small drop more noticeable.
In most cases, yes. Re-fixing the existing hinges into firm timber and adjusting them is enough. New hinges are only needed when the pin or the leaf is bent or badly worn.
Close the door and look at the gap along the top. If it is wider at the hinge side and narrower or touching at the handle side, the door has dropped. A door that scrapes only at the bottom may have a different cause, such as new flooring.
About 30 to 45 minutes for one door. Doors whose screw holes need filling before re-fixing can take a little longer.
