Lock Replacement
Bedroom and Bathroom Lock Replacement in Singapore
Bedroom and bathroom locks are replaced from $70 in labour at SG QuickFix, with the new lockset charged separately. A jammed turn button, a loose handle or a lock that no longer releases is swapped for a new privacy lockset in about 30 to 45 minutes, usually in the existing holes.

Task guide
When this may be needed
- Someone is locked inside, or the door has locked itself with nobody in the room.
- The turn button on the inside no longer locks or unlocks.
- The handle is loose, droops or turns without opening the door.
- The lock has rusted from bathroom steam.
- You want a lock with an outside emergency release for young children or elderly parents.
What the team does
If the door is locked, the technician first tries the emergency release on the outside of the handle, so the door is opened without damage. The old lockset is then removed and the door's bore, backset and thickness are measured so the new lockset fits the existing holes. The new lockset is fitted, the latch is lined up with the strike plate, and the lock and emergency release are tested from both sides.
Included in this price
- Opening a locked internal door using its emergency release, where possible
- Removing the old lockset
- Fitting the new lockset in the existing holes
- Strike plate alignment and testing from both sides
Limits & price factors
The lockset is charged on top of the labour price. Key-operated main door locks, mortise locks and digital locks are separate tasks. Door or frame damage from forcing the door earlier is repaired under Door Repair.
The price covers one standard tubular or cylindrical privacy lockset. A lockset with a different backset, a door that needs its bore enlarged, or a locked door without an emergency release takes longer. The lockset can be supplied, or you can buy your own.
FAQs
Look for a small slot or hole on the outside of the handle. Most privacy locks open with a coin or a thin tool in that slot. If there isn't one, or it doesn't work, avoid forcing the door, which can split the frame. The lock can be opened and replaced.
