Shelf / Mirror / Picture Installation
Drilling into Tile, Marble and Granite in Singapore
Drilling into tile, marble or granite adds $40 to $60 per job at SG QuickFix, on top of the item being installed. Hard and glazed surfaces crack under a hammer drill, so holes are started with tile or diamond bits at low speed, positioned away from edges and grout where possible, and sealed in wet areas.

Task guide
When this may be needed
- A shelf or mirror must go on a tiled kitchen or bathroom wall.
- A granite or marble splashback needs a hole for a rail or hook.
- A previous hole cracked a tile.
- You are worried about hitting a pipe behind a bathroom wall.
- The tiles are large porcelain slabs.
What the team does
The technician identifies the surface, taps the tile to check it is firmly bonded, and plans hole positions away from edges, grout lines and likely pipe runs. Each hole is drilled through the surface with a tile or diamond bit at low speed and without hammer action, using water to cool the bit for hard stone where needed. The hole is then continued into the wall behind and the anchor is fitted. In wet areas, the fixing is sealed.
Included in this price

Limits & price factors
This is an add-on to an installation, not a standalone visit. Replacing tiles that were already cracked or hollow, and supplying the items to install, are not included.
The add-on is $40 to $60 per job, not per hole. Glazed ceramic is at the lower end; porcelain, marble and granite take longer and are at the upper end.
FAQs
The risk is low with the right bit, low speed and no hammer action. Tiles that sound hollow when tapped are more likely to crack, so they are checked first.
No. It is $40 to $60 per job, added to the price of the items being installed.
Hole positions are planned away from the likely pipe runs, such as directly above or below taps and mixers. Concealed pipes can't be seen, so the risky zones are avoided rather than guessed.
Small holes can be filled with a colour-matched filler or grout, though they may remain slightly visible.
