Digital Lock Installation Cost in Singapore (2026)

By SG QuickFixLast updated 7 min read

Quick answer

Digital lock installation costs from $120 with SG QuickFix in Singapore when your existing door fits the lock, or from $160 when the door needs a new pocket, holes or plates. Retail bundles price the lock and a standard installation together. Any digital lock installed on a fire-rated main door since 1 Mar 2024 must be fire-certified (SCDF).

How much does digital lock installation cost in Singapore?

SG QuickFix installs a digital lock on an existing door from $120, and a door that needs modification costs from $160.

These installation prices depend on how much work the door needs. A retail bundle is priced differently: the lock, delivery and a standard installation are sold as one price. You can see lock replacement and digital lock installation prices on the service page.

The price goes up when the door does not match the lock: a missing or undersized pocket, extra through-holes, a rebate plate for a double door, or old holes that the new plates do not cover. Each lock is priced as a separate job, so a main door and a gate are two installations.

What does a digital lock bundle include, and what costs extra?

A retail bundle usually includes the lock, delivery, removal of the old lock, standard fitting, set-up and a basic function test.

"Standard" is the key word. Free installation in a bundle usually covers only locks bought from that seller, on a door that already suits the lock. Anything outside that is often charged on the day. Before you pay, ask the seller whether these are included:

  • A rebate plate for a double-leaf door
  • Covering or filling old holes that the new lock does not hide
  • Cutting or enlarging the mortise pocket
  • A mounting plate or bracket for the gate lock
  • After-hours or remote-area surcharges

Also ask how long the workmanship warranty lasts and who services the lock afterwards. A bundle price that looks low can end up close to a separate lock plus installation once these are added. Get the extras in writing before the installer arrives.

Is install-only cheaper than a lock bundle?

Install-only is usually cheaper when you have found the same lock for less online, or when you already own one.

Branded digital locks for an HDB main door generally list from a few hundred dollars to about a thousand in Singapore, and a gate lock is a separate unit of similar cost. To compare fairly, take the bundle price, subtract what the same lock sells for on its own, and compare the difference with a fixed installation price. If the difference is larger, buying the lock and paying for installation separately saves money.

A bundle can still be the better choice. Some brands' warranties expect their own installer, and one seller then answers for both the lock and the fitting. Overseas or grey-import locks may have no local warranty and no Certificate of Conformity, which rules them out for a fire-rated main door.

If you are only replacing a mechanical lock, see the cost of changing a door lock; it is a separate job with its own price.

When does a digital lock need door modification?

A door needs modification when the new lock does not match its existing pocket, holes or thickness.

The common triggers are:

  • No mortise pocket, or a pocket smaller or shaped differently from the new lock body
  • New through-holes needed for the spindle, connecting cable or bolts
  • Old holes that the new front and back plates do not cover
  • A double-leaf door that needs a rebate plate
  • A narrow door stile or a door too thin for the lock
  • A metal door instead of a wooden one

Door thickness decides the lock type. Most mortise digital locks need a door of roughly 40 mm or more, while surface-mounted models suit thinner doors. Check the thickness range on the lock's spec sheet before you buy.

A digital lock also needs a door that closes squarely. If your door sags or the closer slams it shut, the latch may not catch properly. Fix that first with a door repair such as a closer or alignment adjustment.

If the door is too damaged to take the lock and needs replacing, note that replacing a main door along the fire escape route (opening into a passageway such as a staircase or lift lobby) needs an HDB permit, a half-hour fire-rated door with an accreditor's label on a frame with a self-closing device, and a Home Fire Alarm Device (smoke detector) in the flat (MyNiceHome: HDB renovation permits), and a fire door can only be replaced with one of equal or higher fire rating (SCDF FAQ).

Can you fit a digital lock on an HDB gate?

Yes, but a gate lock is a separate unit and a separate installation from the door lock.

Most HDB flats have a wooden main door behind a metal gate, so "door and gate" means two locks. Gate locks are made for metal gate frames. Where the gate has no flat section to mount on, a plate or bracket is usually needed. A gate faces the common corridor, so choose a keypad rated for rain and dust.

Gate jobs vary more than door jobs, so they are priced from photos. Each lock is its own job.

Before buying, measure the gap between your main door and the gate. The door lock's outside handle and keypad sit in that gap, and a mortise lock with a lever handle needs much more room than a slim deadbolt-style model. Check the manufacturer's minimum gap against your measurement.

What fire certificate should a digital lock come with?

On a fire-rated main door, a digital lock installed since 1 Mar 2024 needs a Certificate of Conformity. It comes from a certification body (Element, Setsco or TÜV SÜD PSB).

The certification can cover the lock together with the door, or the lock on its own. Ask the seller for the lock's Certificate of Conformity before you pay, and keep it. Check that the brand and model on the certificate match the lock you are buying. The rule is explained in more detail in the guide to digital locks on HDB fire-rated doors.

What should you check before buying a digital lock online?

Check your door thickness, the lock type, the door-to-gate gap and, for a fire-rated door, the lock's Certificate of Conformity before you buy.

Before buying a lock online, confirm:

  • Your door thickness, against the lock's supported range
  • Mortise or surface-mounted, and whether your door has a pocket
  • Which way your door opens (the lock's handing)
  • The gap between the main door and the gate
  • The Certificate of Conformity, if your main door is fire-rated
  • Local warranty, and who will service the lock and its batteries

Batteries are the part that needs regular attention; the guide on how often to change a digital lock battery covers it.

For an accurate installation price, send photos of the door edge showing the current lock, the inside and outside faces of the door, the fire-rating label near the hinges, and the new lock's model name or box. For a gate, add a photo of the gate frame where the lock will go. For other home repairs, see the full handyman price list for Singapore.
