TV Mounting

TV Mounting on Tile, Marble and Feature Walls

Mounting a TV on a tiled, marble, granite or other special wall adds $40 to $60 to the screen-size mounting price at SG QuickFix. These surfaces crack easily under a standard hammer drill, so the holes are started with tile or diamond bits at low speed, then continued into the wall behind with the right anchor.

Task guide

When this may be needed

  • The TV wall is clad in large-format porcelain tiles.
  • A marble or sintered-stone feature wall was built during renovation.
  • The feature wall is a panel over a gap, with the solid wall some distance behind.
  • A previous installer cracked a tile when drilling.
  • The wall has a textured or 3D panel finish.

What the team does

The technician identifies the surface and what is behind it: tile on concrete, stone on a backing board, or a panel over a gap. Hole positions are marked to avoid tile edges and grout lines where possible, because holes near an edge are the ones most likely to crack. Each hole is drilled through the surface slowly with a tile or diamond bit without hammer action, then continued into the wall behind. Anchors long enough to reach solid wall are used, and the bracket is levelled and fixed before the TV is hung.

Included in this price

  • Identifying the surface and the wall behind it
  • Marking holes away from tile edges where possible
  • Slow drilling with tile or diamond bits
  • Anchoring through to the solid wall

Limits & price factors

This add-on is charged on top of the TV mounting price for the screen size. Replacing a tile that was already cracked, building feature walls and concealing cables in stone walls are not included.

The add-on is $40 to $60 depending on the surface. Glazed ceramic is at the lower end; hard porcelain, natural stone and sintered stone take longer and are at the upper end. Feature panels with a gap behind may need longer anchors or a spacer.
