What the team does
The technician checks the existing circuit's capacity and the nearest supply point. For an upgrade, the single socket is replaced with a double where the box allows. For a new point, the supply is extended from the nearest suitable socket or circuit in surface trunking, a box is fixed, and the double socket fitted. The socket is tested for correct polarity and earth before use.

A 13A socket can supply about 3,000 watts in total. Running two high-power appliances through an adaptor can overload it and cause overheating. More sockets are safer.
